Axiom (n.) – obvious truth requiring no proof; universally accepted idea

Pepito turned his nose up at the axiom “You can’t turn a hoe into a housewife”, despite Snoop Dogg’s forewarnings.  Now all Pepito has is a hoe wearing an apron unconvincingly, and an engulfing sense of failure.  Lesson learned.
