It was fun while it lasted. For a over month El Guapo felt obliged to follow the lead of Jay-Z (also known as S-dot, Young Hov, Jazzy, Hova, Jigga, J-Hova, Jiggaman, Iceberg Slim, Lucky Lefty, Joe Camel) who recently declared that he would refrain from calling women bitches. This sudden turn around was brought on by the birth of Hova’s daughter and, one can only assume, the fact that March was Women’s History Month.

Madame Curie. Joan of Arc. Rosie the Riveter.  Jay-Z and El Guapo get it. Women occasionally do things besides baking, knitting, and/or wearing flimsy swimsuits. Thank goodness that the time for recognizing this is finally behind us for the year. Now to get things back to normal.

Jay-Z confided in El Guapo that penning songs without the words “bitch(es)” and “hoe(s)” has been an undertaking he did not expect. “It has been a humbling experience. It has really crippled my creative process. I start rapping about my riches, and then I reach for my Rapper’s Rhyming Dictionary (c) and the only word there is “bitch(es)”.  I look for a creative insult to speak disparagingly about a rapper I dislike and the word “ho” is off limits. It’s tragic. It’s like I’m limited while other colleagues are able to work unshackled.”

Your handsome and humble servant-

El Guapo
